FC Westlake Junior Academy - Program Overview
FC Westlake Junior Academy is a program designed to provide age appropriate development and competition to players who have shown the ability to be successful at the recreational level of play. Players are grouped by ability on teams in both U8, U9 & U10 boys & girls. (U7 players are eligable to register for the junior acadmey program however we encourage parents to check with Adam Huff prior to registering. Each team has a professional coach.
FC Westlake Junior Academy teams participate in the Lonestar Academy League, this is simply a league created by soccer professionals for Lonestar affiliated programs, the league is comprised of 4 main locations; Westlake, Town & Country, Williamson County & Westcreek. Teams play home & away games at these 4 locations; Westlake (Bridge Point or Westlake H.S.), Town & Country, Williamson County & Westcreek.
Who Should Participate?
The FC Westlake Junior Academy program is designed specifically for U8, U9 & U10 recreational soccer players who are ready for advanced training. The program is built around creating an environment for youth players to excel both technically and tactically. Although still a fun based learning program players are expected to demonstrate focus and a willingness to compete and develop as they prepare for select soccer. Although open to anyone the professional coaching staff will determine if the academy program will benefit your son/daughter. WYSA is a huge advocate of children playing multiple sports, and whilst we recognize the demands of academy, we’d like everyone to be aware that each season we work with all our families to allow the children to play Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball etc…
To continually strive for the best developmental program for all our Academy age players we offer 2 different game formats. U9 & U10 teams will play 8v8 (7 field players plus a GK) Some U8 teams will play 6v6 (5 field players plus a GK) other U8 teams will play 8v8 based on the level of players on the roster. These changes have been made to provide our younger academy players more touches on the ball on a more appropriately sized field. Some players will play outside of their age group at the discretion of our professional coaching staff if we feel it's in the best interests of that player’s development
